The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is an economic immigration initiative designed to nominate individuals for permanent residence in Alberta. Eligible candidates are those who possess the skills needed to address labour shortages or intend to establish or purchase a business in the province, while demonstrating the ability to support themselves and their families. The program is jointly administered by the Governments of Alberta and Canada.
Once nominated under the AAIP, applicants may include their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children when applying for permanent residence. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) processes these applications and is responsible for making the final decision on all permanent residence cases.
